Different Types of Fish to Keep in an Aquarium
Fish make for wonderful pets, as long as you care for them well. Having an aquarium adds a lot of style to your living room. But there are those who believe that aquariums are hard to maintain. Danios are among the small, active and colorful kinds. These are commonly presented in red, yellow and green. They are lively but hardly aggressive and live well with other species. You need to place them in a large aquarium with gravel and plants at the bottom, with pH levels close to that of fresh water.
Black Molly, however, can live in any water. You will find them easier to care for. They tend to be platinum colored, dusty gold or black. Their diet is made up of flake and pellet foods, bloodworms and brine shrimp. They are social, but do not do well here there are large fish.
Platies are even more colorful, mostly in blue, purple, red-orange, and yellow. They can also be bred for more color options. They are quiet and live well among other quiet fish. The male species are normally smaller than the female ones. They do well in warmer water and eat flake food, freeze-dried food, and algae.
You will find Betta fish in shapes like half-moon, double-tail and crown tail. They prefer warmer water that it changed frequently.
Neon Tetra have silver or white abdomens with bright blue backs. They also live well with other species.
Guppies are the most playful, and you shall see them breeding a lot. If you have few of them, with time they shall multiply a lot. Their females may grow to be two times the size of the males. The males are however the ones with the more colorful bodies.
Rainbow fish have the colors moisture their names suggest. They appear even more colorful once they settle in the aquarium. They are passive, and shall live well among similarly disposed species.
Glofish are like Danios, save for their neon shine. They are also less active fish.
